How to find a computers name from its ip address

No response, Nov 11, 2008

If you know a computer’s ip address you can use NSLOOKUP to find its name.

NSLOOKUP (ip address)

(DNSLOOKUP uses DNS)

Or you can also you the ping command to find the name of the computer:

PING -A (ip address)

(PING will try WINS and DNS)

Best Windows OS Ever?

1 response, Oct 29, 2008

That was the question proposed on gizmodo, Is Windows 7 going to be the best windows version ever?

According to Microsoft, the answer seems to be yes ! Though Windows 7 look much like Windows Vista it is said to have many improvements (mostly under the hood).

Here are some of the new improvements (from gizmodo):

• If an application or device runs on Vista, it should run on Win 7.
• If a system runs Windows Vista, should run Windows 7 even faster.
• Notebooks should get better battery life in Windows 7.
• Windows 7 will be more reliable than Vista SP1 from Day 1.

If the above turn out to be true along with some other improvements, then this might be the OS that bring Microsoft back up towards the top again. I as a result am lookign forward to this OS, I can not tell for certain though if its going to be good because a lot of people thought vista was going to be good but it turned out to stink.  I can how ever give my opinion on it more and explain if I think its good or bad after the OS becomes release as a developers only release, then I’ll go more indepth on comparing it to Vista

Long Live Xp

No response, Oct 04, 2008

“According to a leaked email from a PC OEM, Microsoft has officially extended the life of its now-beloved Windows XP, moving the date of planned obsolescence from January 31, 2009 all the way to July 31, 2009.” (from Gizmodo) As a result it seems to many people that what Mirosoft is trying to do is switch people not from vista to xp but to there next os…Windows 7.  The question is will Windows 7 be able to comapre to the awesomeness of Windows Xp (which in my opion is the most solid os Microsoft has made so far) ?
